Michael D. Morrow, age 63, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2016, at HEB Hospital in Bedford, Texas. Mike was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 24, 1952, to the late William B. and Dorothy J. Morrow. Mike's true passion was law enforcement. While attending Columbus West High School, Mike would slip down the road to a local diner that Columbus Police officers would frequent. Mike loved interacting with the officers. That interaction sparked his desire to serve the public and eventually created lifelong friendships.
Mike began his law enforcement career with the Whitehall (Ohio) Police Department. He then went on to work for the Morrow County (Ohio) Sheriff's Office, where he served in patrol, K-9 and narcotics. Mike retired as a sergeant from Morrow County due to work related injuries. Mike then moved to Texas, where he became a devoted employee of American Airlines of Dallas-Fort Worth. Aviation was an interest of Mike's from an early age. He truly enjoyed his job and the light hearted interaction with his work family. Mike enjoyed sports at all levels, but was a serious Ohio State fan. While living in Euless, Texas, he became a fan of the local college and professional teams. Mike embraced Texas life which he combined with his love for cooking. Mike often challenged himself to make the very best Texas brisket for all around him to enjoy.
Mike had a great love of life and he didn't waste a minute of it. He was always the life of any gathering and had a great story to tell. He had an infectious laugh, a big heart and loved to spend time with friends and family. Mike had a positive outlook on life and will always be remembered for finding the good in everyone. He was the best brother you could ever hope for. He would always laugh at your jokes or have a clever remark if he didn't. Through all of life's ups and downs, the one constant was Mike's love and laughter. Mike was preceded in death by his sister Saundra Diane Kramer. He is survived by his children, Jackie and Shaun Morrow, sister, Cathy (Bob) Billingsley, brother, Jim (Darlene) Morrow, brother-in-law Don Kramer, two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7pm to Celebrate the Life of Michael on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123
