Virginia Mae Phillips, age 89 passed peacefully in her sleep after a short illness. She was received in Jesus' open arms on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Virginia was a devout sister in Christ and was a long time member of The Briggs Road Baptist Church.
Ginny was a native of Sprigg WV and resided in Ohio, California and Florida over the course of her life. When she retired from Good Samaritan in Kissimmee FL she returned to Ohio to be closer to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, most of who resided in the Columbus area.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Harold Sr, parents John and Allie Williams, brother Burl Williams, sisters Mary Coleman and Ruth McCoy, brothers-in-law Bill Coleman and Hurshel McCoy and grandson Michael Allison and great grandson Zackery Phillips.
She leaves behind her proudest accomplishments, namely her children Oretha (Walt) Schatz, Patricia (Mike) Allison, Harold Jr (Cheryl) Phillips, Larry Phillips and Steve (Debbie) Phillips. She is also survived by cherished grandchildren Shelly, Michelle, Jennifer, Jeremy, Shawn, Tony, Cortney and Kevin, 11 great grandchildren, sister Loretta McCoy, brother-in-law Bernie McCoy and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service and visitation will be conducted on Monday, November 7 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City OH 43123. Visitation hours are 8:30-9:15am. Private interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery where Virginia will be laid to rest with her husband an Army veteran.
