Erma Jean (Pennybacker) Rees

July 3, 1930 — January 3, 2017

Heaven has reclaimed one of its angels here on earth in her 86th year. Erma Jean was the sweetest, kindest, and greatest wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother anyone ever had. The first "wasp whisperer" she would handle all sorts of stinging insects without being stung.

Every living thing was her friend and the beneficiary of her kindness. Having grown up in the hills of West Virginia, she was the only person who would appreciate baby bats nesting between cans of paint in Rees Hardware "they were as cute as puppies". Formerly employed at The American Ceramic Society, Riverside Methodist Hospital, and Rees Hardware in Clarksburg, Ohio. Predeceased by her mother Grace (2004) and father Don (1968) Pennybacker, husband H. W. Rees (1987), and sister Pat Kerns (2016).

urvived by 3 sons, Howard D. (Joy) Rees, William J. (Judith Fisher) Rees, and Timothy M. (Karen) Rees; 11 grandchildren, Kristen (Andres) Benitez, Carolyn Rees, Jonathan Rees, Sarah (Jon) Simonton, Ashley (Jason) Guerrero, William F. Rees, Riley F. Rees, Haley F. Rees, Jackson F. Rees, Luke Stevens, Travis Stevens; 4 great grandchildren, Kylee and Eli Guererro, Xavier and Mariel Benitez; 2 brothers, Jack Pennybacker, Ronald Pennybacker; 4 sisters, JoAnn (Bob) Lowers, Connie Weinhart, Kay (Jack) Wigal, Kitty Schaedel.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family with no visitation. Erma's ashes will be scattered at her beloved Pine Hollow in Jackson County. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Arbor Day Foundation or any other charitable organization.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the memory care unit and hospice unit at Brookdale at Pinnacle (formerly Emeritus) for their constant loving care and attention.
