Virginia Dolores (Emminger) Jones was born in Dayton, Ohio October 6, 1922 and lived there until 2001 when she moved to Columbus, Ohio to be near her son and daughter. It was there she passed away at age 94 on February 25, 2017 with them by her side. She attended Fairview High School in Dayton and fell in love with classmate Evan Richard "Dick" Jones. They graduated in 1940 and married in 1943.
She was a service rep at Ohio Bell before becoming a most wonderful devoted wife and mother. Virginia served as a Brownie Scout leader and President of the Northmont Women's Republican Club. She was an excellent homemaker, seamstress and cook. Her homemade pies were the best ever! Virginia intensely, tirelessly and endlessly loved and cared for her family. Her dedication, love and determination were legendary. She instilled the love of family in her children and grandchildren by her lifelong example. Her heart will always remain with us.
Survived by her daughter, Jeri Bland and husband Robert; son, Richard Jones and wife Nancy; son-in-law Larry Maxwell; nine grandchildren, Tali McCune, Lori Wright, Jeni Flowers, Chris Maxwell, Greg Maxwell, Travis Jones, Troy Jones, Lucas Jones, Ava Jones; six great-grandchildren, Melia Maxwell, Jaxon Flowers, Keira Maxwell, Anna Jones, Theo Jones, Evan Jones. Also, her treasured dear lifelong friend, Charlene Huddleston.
Preceded in death by husband, Dick Jones; daughter, Jackie Maxwell; parents, Richard and Malvey (Schroeder) Emminger; birth parents Lawrence and Goldie (Pierson) Frey; brother, Bill Frey; sister, Jeanette Frey; mother-in-law, Amaretta (Grauser) Jones Babbs; fathers-in-law, Owen Jones and George Babbs.
A private Memorial Service will be held at Newcomer Northeast Chapel in Columbus, Ohio this Spring and inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
