Charles Mays

Charles Mays, 73, from Alexandria, OH moved to his heavenly home at 8:45pm, November 28th. He had been in intensive care at OSU for over 5 weeks. He was born in Bloomington, IL on April 4, 1944 to Edwin K. and Elsie J. Mays. He had one brother, Thomas (Patricia) Mays of Geneseo, IL and one sister, Linda J. Armenise (Mays) of Geneseo, IL.

He was in the United States Army from 1961-64 stationed in Fort Benning, GA and was a member of the American Legion. He departs from his wife of 36 years, Christa (Ellas) whom he loved dearly. He has three children, Christie, Michael and Kendra Mays, all of Columbus and three step-children, Gary Gregg of Mt. Vernon, Sherri (Bill) Lehman of Newark, and Jeanne (Gary) Holbrook of Alexandria, OH, nieces, Angie Armenise of Providence, RI, Melissa (Don) Hardesty of Bucyrus, OH, nephew, Rick (Donna) Ellas, 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was the owner and operator of Bixler's Sales and Service in Newark, OH. After retirement he worked at Home Depot MET team in Newark, OH. He loved his pet chickens, being outside, fishing, tinkering in the garage or reading a good book.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at the Alexandria Church of Christ, 5380 Moots Run Road, Alexandria, OH 43001 with Don Allen officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
