Irene Conley Absten, age 82, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday April 25, 2018 in Plano, Texas.
She was born on March 19, 1936 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Anna Emma (Kreyenbuhl) and Patrick Conley.
Although born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Irene grew up at the family farm house on Posey Run Road near Orlando, West Virginia, which was built in 1915 by her grandfather Tom Conley. After graduating from Burnsville High School, she moved to Charleston West Virginia. She enjoyed working at the Charleston National Bank and attended College at Morris Harvey College. In August 1978, she married Terry Absten and moved to Grove City, Ohio. She continued her career with The John Galbreath Company. During retirement, her main source of joy was spending time with family and grandchildren. She enjoyed socializing with friends at the Elks (BPOE #37), golf, dancing, and drinking wine.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband Thurman Absten, and siblings Mary, Helen, Joan, Alice and Jane.
She is survived by her brother Lawrence (Buck) Conley and sons Jackson Hamilton (Cindy), William Hamilton, Daniel Hamilton (Lisa), Gregory Absten (Lisa), Mike Absten (Becca); and grandchildren Claire, David, Lindsay, Derek, Eric, Nicole, Emily, Sarah, Jessica, Anya, Alex, Sean, and Lauren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio.

Following the Mass there will be a short burial at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
