Richard Lee "Rick" Hazlett, 62, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Columbus, OH. Rick was born on August 24, 1956 in Columbus to Melvin R. Hazlett, Sr. and the late Doris E. Van Gundy.
In addition to his mother, Rick is preceded in death by his father-in-law, William R. Black and step-father, Paul E. Van Gundy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Vickie L. (Black) Hazlett; daughter, Stephanie L. Hazlett; father, Melvin R. Hazlett, Sr. and step-mother, Clara B. Hazlett; siblings, Cindy (Eddie) Sellers, M. Russ (Suzanne)Hazlett, Jr., Melody (David) Cullison, LaNora (Marvin) Hixson, LaNita (Tracy) Chester; mother-in-law, Bettylou E. Black; brother-in-law, Jerry R. Black, Sr.; sisters-in-law, LaDonna (Butch) Williams, Deborah Brown; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Rick was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. A faithful provider to his wife and daughter. Rick valued spending time with his family and close friends. He was employed for 30 years by the City of Westerville as street maintenance supervisor retiring in 2009. Rick enjoyed woodworking in his shop, working outdoors and spending time in his yard. He will be missed beyond measure.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026. A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow.
