Dirk C. Orr 62 passed away Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born in Borger, Texas on August 29, 1957 to Charles M. and Beverly (Wells) Orr.
He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Orr, sister Ann Molton (Orr) and brother Kyle M. Orr. He is survived by his husband Dan Johnson, father Charles Orr, step-children Mariel Aiello (Nicholas) and Braden Johnson, sister-in-law Kimberly Orr, nephew Justin Orr, niece Brittney (Orr) Held (Timothy), niece Halley (Molton) Lytten, best friend Robert Vaneman and many other dear friends.
Dirk graduated with his nursing degree from Columbus Technical Institute and spent the last 15 years as a Registered Nurse at the Zangmeister Cancer Center providing compassionate care to patients. Dirk shared his beautiful tenor voice as a choir member in the King's Way Singers, First Congregational and King Avenue UMC choirs and Illuminati, the sacred ensemble of the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus. Dirk had the ability to light up a room with his outgoing personality, sense of humor, laugh and bright welcoming smile.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Human Rights Campaign.
