Robert George Thompson

Robert George "Bob" Thompson 96 of Columbus, OH went home to be with his Lord on April 22, 2021 at Grant Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born May 18, 1924 in Chattaroy, WV the son of George and Elizabeth Thompson both who preceded him in death, as well as two brothers and four sisters.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Geneva, of 69 years and his daughter, Diana (Jerry); sister, Elvie; and several nieces and nephews. He was a Christian and a member of Parsons Baptist Church.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having enlisted at age 17 during WWII and was honorably discharged after the war ended in 1945. He was retired from the N + W Railroad and was an avid hunter and golfer. He worked on several golf courses following his retirement from the railroad. He loved the OSU Buckeyes and his Reds baseball team.

Visitation Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 12pm until the time of Funeral Service at 2pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Guests are requested to comply with Covid 19 recommendations by wearing masks and social distancing. Private interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
