Lewis E. Hopkins, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, was granted his heavenly wings on May 17, 2022.
He was born in Columbus, OH on March 24, 1935 to the late Benkert and Catherine (Bennett) Hopkins.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Caroline, Louise; niece, Mary; daughter-in-laws, Bonnie and JoAnna.
Surviving family includes loving wife of 56 years, Wanda (Kelley) Hopkins; children, Roger, Rusty, Donald (Patty), Bradley (Cris), Kimberly (Darren); grandchildren, Heather, Shawn, Anthony, Brandon, Christopher, John, Blake, Austin, Mitchell, Gabrielle, Jesse, Noah; great grandchildren, Leah, Halley, Skylar, Elizabeth, Alley, Carter, Jackson, LeAnder, Graham; nieces and nephews, Jeanine, Cathy, Mark, Cheryl; as well many loving extended family and friends.
Lewis was a proud retiree of Anheuser-Busch after 26 years, following his 18 year career at Kroger Bakery.
He loved golfing, boating, music, bowling, and spending special trips with his family.
Lewis enjoyed spending time admiring classic cars.
He loved to socialize, could liven up any party, and occasionally loved his Bud Light.
Lewis was a very caring, dependable and dedicated to helping his friends and family, regardless of the circumstance he never turned his back.
He truly loved life and made a special effort to make sure everyone's life was incredible.
Lewis was inspiring and his life was a good example of how others should treat one another.
The family would like to send a special Thank You, to those who cared and loved him at the Kemper House and Capital City Hospice during his decline of life with Alzheimer's/Dementia. His personality generated many nicknames at the Kemper House, our favorite was "Lew Bug".
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
