Betty Jo Moore

Betty Jo Moore, age 82, walked into the arms of Jesus on October 18, 2022. She was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1939, in Arnoldsburg, WV, to the late Simon F Higginbotham and Goldie (Parsons) Canup. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry T Moore, and son, Steven.
She is survived by sisters, Ellen Marie Lynn, Lois Bailey, and Brenda Bonham; daughter, Teresa (Don) Branham; grandchildren, Ashley (Christopher) King, Tiffany VanGundy, Emily Sloan, Brandon (Stacy) Moore, Justin (Dan) Moore, Courtney (Paul) Nemes; Holly and Kendall Branham and 13 great grandchildren.
Betty graduated from DuPont High School in 1957, and from Columbus Technical Institute in 1983 with a degree in Mental Health. Soon after graduation, she worked at Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center as a Lead Instructor working with MRDD Adults. After moving to Maryville, TN, she was the Unit Coordinator at Baptist Hospital. Upon returning to Ohio to be with her family, she worked as an Office Administrator for Southeast, Inc., and Tri-West Associates. She truly loved her clients. She was a longtime, dedicated member of Grove City United Methodist Church and loved her church family and Sunday School class.
Betty loved life and lived it to the fullest, staying quite active well into her 70s. Her hobbies included bowling, square dancing and traveling to her favorite destinations, Tennessee and Florida. Actually, she really just loved being anywhere with family. She also enjoyed multiple cruises with friends and family.
Betty was the best Grandma and Gigi. She had so much fun spending time with Ashley, Tiffany, and Emily taking them to the pool, shopping at thrift stores for baby (doll) clothing, having sleepovers and attending holiday events at GCUMC. She enjoyed her great grandchildren and loved shopping for them for their birthdays.
Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2022, from 2pm until the time of service at 4pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel 3393 Broadway Grove City, OH 43123. There will be a private family burial at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, WV.
The family would like to thank the many friends that called and visited during her recent hospital stays. Donations may be made in Betty's memory to Grove City United Methodist Church.
