Scott D. Latham

Scott D. Latham of Galloway, Ohio passed away at his home on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the age of 74. Born in Sayre, PA on January 19, 1949 to Douglas and Betty Latham, he was a brother to two siblings, Brian and Craig. Scott was a proud 34 year veteran of the Air Force and Air National Guard. In the Ohio Air National Guard, his last commission was as a Master Sergeant. Where he was the Crew Chief of a KC-135 Refueling Aircraft. His service included Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield earning him 16 prestigious medals. During his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Violet Smith, and married her in 1974. He became the stepfather to her four children, taking care of Darren and John as if they were his own. Scott was a committed parent, grandparent and great-grandparent attending band competitions, sport events, cheer events, birthday celebrations and graduations to name just a few. He was an adamant animal lover, especially dogs. For 8 years and over 1,300 hours, Scott volunteered his time to care for animals at Columbus Humane (formerly Capital Area Humane Society). Scott also enjoyed playing pool, spending time at the VFW, getting his Pilot's License, swimming and cheering on the Buckeyes. He will be loved and missed by many.

Scott is predeceased by... Violet J. Latham (The love of his life for 49 years), Parents: Douglas and Betty Latham. Keisha and Lulu (His two dogs that loved him unconditionally).

Scott is survived by… Brothers: Brian Latham, Craig Latham. Sons: Darren and Debbie Fuller of Grove City, OH, John and Kathy Fuller of Grove City, OH. 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

A memorial service for Scott will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Newcomer Southwest Chapel Funeral Home 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Gathering and visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with the service starting at 11:00 immediately followed by gravesite with full Veterans honors at Alton Cemetery in Galloway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbus Humane Society or American Cancer Society in Scott's memory. The family would like to thank all of those who have extended their condolences during this difficult time. A reception at VFW 7005 at 1 Veterans Way, West Jefferson, OH 43162 immediately after the Cemetery Services. It is a blessing to know the impact that Scott has had on so many people during his lifetime and we are thankful that he will once again be reunited with his true love.
