Roger Alan Rice

Roger Alan Rice, 69, passed from this life on April 9, 2024. He was born in Columbus Ohio, Dec 19,1954, to Russell and Ruth Winland Rice. Roger attended Linden McKinley High School and graduated from St Francis DeSales High School. He then spent 6 years in the US Air Force and stayed out west for a few more years while he attended Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute. When he returned home, he used his skills as a mechanic at the Hydraulic and Air Control Company, where he worked for 20+ years. Roger enjoyed fishing, trips to Lake Erie, and being a member of the Centerburg Conservation Club. He loved being outdoors and recently took up gardening. He also liked heavy metal music and was teaching himself to play the guitar. Although Roger had several health issues, he didn't complain. When his health concerns caused him to spend more time at home, he discovered facebook, texting, and online shopping. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Roger Kollmer and niece Jennifer Kollmer. He is survived by his brother Kerry (Sharen) Rice, sister Johnna Kollmer, nieces and nephews Melodie (Patrick) Tingler, James (Dreama) Rice, Joel Rice, Tom (Bethany Ford) Kollmer, Joy (David Courter) Kollmer, and Megan Lucas Kollmer. His family also included several great-nieces and great-nephews, a few great-greats, and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to AMVETS. Roger was a member of Amvets Post 89, 1377 Community Park Dr, Columbus, OH 43229. There will be a service to celebrate Roger's life on May 4, 2024, at Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43231. Visitation is at 12:00 with the service to follow at 1pm.
