Albert Lee Barksdale, age 80, passed away on February 24, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on January 29, 1943, in Rhondall, Raleigh, West Virginia. Albert was a Marine Corps Veteran who served in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. He embodied military values and was known for his kindness, love, and privacy.
Albert is survived by his nephews Richard B. Catus and Dandridge W. Catus, his niece Mona R. Catus, along with Jasmine Catus, Ariel Catus, Nyah Catus, Anthony Robinson and his grandnephews and grandnieces Ayana Robinson, Alyna Robinson, and Jamir Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father John Woodall, mother Cornelia Barksdale, sister Maxine Catus, and nephew William Catus.
Albert was a high school graduate from a segregated school in West Virginia and had a passion for fishing with his friends. A small celebration of life will be held with family and close friends, details to be determined, at Newcomer in Columbus, Ohio, assisting with the funeral arrangements.
