Alberta S. Parsons, 90, Columbus, OH passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Friendship Village Columbus.
Alberta was born in Alma, Kansas, on January 8, 1923, received her BS in Dietetics from Kansas State University in 1945 and married John L. Parsons on November 26 of the same year.
Over the years, Alberta and John lived in Kansas, Massachusetts, Ohio and internationally in Brazil 4 years and Uganda 2 ½ years. Alberta's interests included cooking, health & nutrition, sewing, music, painting, traveling, and caring for her large family. She was active in the Worthington Republican Woman's Club, OSU University Women's Club, and the Gourmet Cooking Club.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Parsons, Columbus, OH; sons, Mark of Wales UK, Kevin of PA, Steven of OH, Gary of PA; daughter, Lori of NH; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Davis of Kansas City MO.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 18, 2013 from 2-4 pm at Friendship Village Columbus, 5800 Forest Hill Blvd, Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta Stuewe Parsons Memorial Scholarship in Dietetics at KSU Foundation, College of AG, 23223 Anderson Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
The family wishes to thank the nurse's aides and the staff of FVC for their care of Alberta. The family requests that donations be made to the KSU scholarship fund which was set up in Alberta's name. Education was always very important to Alberta. The goal of this scholarship is to help future KSU students, interested in nutrition, achieve their scholastic dreams.
