Preston
Alexander Delaney Preston was born in Cincinnati on October 5, 1989 to Kimberly and Douglas Preston. He left this earth bound for Heaven in the early evening on Saturday, December 18, 2010. Alex attended Beechcroft High School where he was well-known and well-liked by his schoolmates. He participated in the school choir and enjoyed attending the various school activities. Alex loved music; his favorite artists being Michael Jackson and Usher. From birth to death he showed tenacity and defied the odds. Alex endured many surgeries and procedures through out his lifetime, but continued to display a zest for life and a love for his family and friends. Although Alex faced a number of obstacles and challenges, he was a well-rounded young man and kept a busy schedule. During his life he participated in the Special Olympics, played basketball, liked to swim, bowl, and "drive his parents' cars". Alex was exposed to church early and often as a child. At about the age of eleven he began to mature in his own relationship with the Lord with the assistance of his favorite care-giver Ms. Arlene. He enjoyed attending church and had a special love for Gethsemane Community Fellowship Church in Norfolk, Virginia, which he affectionately referred to as, "Semane". Throughout his life, Alex impacted the lives of many people, from Cincinnati, Akron, Columbus, Fort Wayne and Hampton Roads. "To know him was to love him." Alex leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Kimberly (fiancé Corey Coker) Preston and Douglas (Melissa) Preston; grandmothers, Andrea Smith and Louise Hay; siblings, Madison Preston and Lafayette Polite, Jr.; aunt and uncles, Clara Cash, Robert Smith and Lawrence Heath-Rubama; cousins, Desmond Ragland and Dajanai Ragland; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be Monday, December 27, 2010 from 5:00-6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd Columbus, with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM.
