Alexa Ely McMullen, 48, passed away after a long and difficult struggle with lung cancer on December 9, 2008 at Kobacker House Inpatient Care Unit of HomeReach Hospice. Alexa was an avid gardener and a versatile and talented artist who could make something out of nothing. She was passionate about her children, family, and animals. The McMullen home was always a halfway house for any stray animal that needed love and care. Alexa was an active environmentalist who never missed an opportunity to recycle. She enjoyed being informed and discussing politics, and was concerned about the well being of our nation and the global community. Preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Whisman. Alexa is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Jim; daughters, Lauren, Amanda, and Martha; granddaughter, Lienna; aunt, Lael Bradshaw; many family and friends who will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kobacker House Inpatient Unit in Alexa's memory at 3595 Olentangy River Road Columbus, OH 43214. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, a Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
