Alexander J. Kahng

June 26, 1963 — March 29, 2025

Alexander J Kahng was born in Seoul South Korea, June 26, 1963. The youngest son of David and Elizabeth Kahng, known by family and friends as Alex.

Alex came to the USA at the tender age of 11 finding a place to call home in Columbus Ohio with his parents, sister, and two brothers. As the youngest of the family, he was the catalyst through which the assimilation into a new culture, customs and routines entered the Kahng family. His natural inquisitiveness made it easier for him to bring to the family table the newness of the experience, the joy of discovering answers and the openness that comes with the innocence of a young child.

He embodied the natural traits of the youngest child: affectionate and uncomplicated; with a love to entertain. Passions that he would channel for his love of music and his willingness to share laughter with family and friends.

It is said that youngest children must work harder to impress their parents. Alex, did. With resilience and determination. He was a wrestler in high school and participated in musical activities, developing into a gifted musician. Odd combination, but a perfect fit for Alex’s zest for life.

He attended OSU graduating with a degree in Welding Engineering, a feat that required another trait: perseverance.

Welding Engineers employ their knowledge of metallurgy, welding, materials, physics, engineering, and standards for examining, designing, and evaluating welds. Skills that led him to work for Honda and Kia in their safety departments.

Through his duties ensuring that everyone that drove these vehicles were safe and secure. Indirectly showing another trait: care.

Alex will be remembered for his gift of always being the type of person that everyone just likes. He had a way to get everyone to like him; by just being himself.

Alex joined his father and mother already in the cohorts of angles March 29, 2025. Alex leaves a legacy in the love shared by his dear sister Rachel Contreras and the admiration and respect expressed by his brothers Robert and Benjamin Kahng.
