In Loving Memory of Alfred Raymond Garner, husband, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at the age of 70 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Alfred preferred to be called Ray or Al and was born on October 19, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, to Richard Ostelle Garner and Christine (Sampler) Garner. Ray was an Electrician by trade and Prophetic Minister by calling.
He spent many years in ministry and was the Prophet that founded the School of the Prophets at Rhema Christian Center. His years in ministry brought a love for being in the presence of God and studying the Bible.

His true love was being in nature and spending time with family. He loved, walking and fishing. He loved exploring nature locally and vacationing in tropical locations. He would walk 6 to 8 miles a day and during the prime of his life he was a marathon runner. He was humble about his accomplishments, esteemed for his athletic abilities, which led him to qualify for the Boston Marathon. He counted this as an honor.
Ray was musical by nature and enjoyed an eclectic taste in various musical genres. He had a beautiful singing voice and would spend time singing for fun.
He is survived by Maria Garner, loving wife and two step children Rodney Byrd and Jordan Martin, brothers in-law Brian and J.R. Byrd and sister in Law Lee Mandeville. Survived by his siblings and their children, His sister Emma Rowe, spouse Charles Rowe, (Emma) 6 children, Chelsie Rhodes, Jr., Rosezell King, Robin Broussard, Renee Davis, Drucillia Johnson, Kenneth Mitchell. His brother Larry Garner, spouse Pamela Garner, (Larry) 1 daughter Roberta Garner. His sister Dorothy Lewis, spouse Rick Lewis, (Dorothy) 1 son Dwight Robinson, Kathy Dabney, no children. Elizabeth Avery, 2 living children, 1 son Allen Avery and 1 daughter Dayahan Avery and one deceased son Justin Avery.
Deceased brothers Mitchell Garner, James Garner, (James) 2 surviving daughters Marlisha Garner and Angie Garner. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his charismatic nature, his gentle spirit, selflessness, and unwavering love.
A Private Memorial Service to celebrate "Ray's" life will be held on April 3, 2024, at 4:00pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funeral & reception, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43231
1:00 pm to 2:00pm Private Family viewing.
