Alice M. Byers Chapman peacefully transitioned on November 14, 2022.
A woman of grace, compassion and warmheartedness, Alice was born February 19, 1949, in Buffalo, NY to John Egleton and Johnetta B. Clapp, and was lovingly raised by her stepfather John R. Mosby, Jr. A talented soul, she learned to play the piano and performed solo gospel hymns accompanied by her mother in her church along with the church of her maternal grandparents Charles and Marguerite Shannon.
She dedicated her life to Christ at a young age and her faith was an integral part of who she was. She began her career in nursing where she utilized her gifts of caring and giving to others.
Alice always acknowledged that her greatest achievement in life was raising her children Alyssa and Kahlil after her first husband Kenneth G. Byers Jr. suddenly passed when the children were very young.
She was instrumental in the care and well-being of her first grandchild Aryanna and provided love and care to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In June of 1995, she married her beloved husband, Arthur J. Chapman and for 27 years their love and commitment flourished.
Alice was predeceased by her parents and sister Arthene Mosby Moses. Alice is survived by husband Arthur J. Chapman, daughter Alyssa (Troy) Russell, son Kahlil (Mary) Byers. Grandchildren; Aryanna Byers, Kahmar Byers, Nolan Russell, Samuel Russell. Great-grandchildren; Zariyah Anthony, Carter Anthony. Sisters; Marguerite Rainey, Lucy (Kenneth) Mosby Herring, Russell Mosby, Wayne Mosby, John Mosby III and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at with a Funeral Service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - Ohio 43231. Burial will follow in procession to Glen Rest Memorial Gardens, Reynoldsburg - Ohio.
