Alice M. Gookin

Alice Matilda Gookin, 91, of Columbus, passed away July 16, 2024. Alice was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 1, 1932 to Paul and Grace Primmer. 

Alice retired from Sears distribution center after 15 years. She was a great care giver. She took care of her children and her house. Alice always had a meal on the table and dessert included. Alice was fond of going out to eat and shopping. Alice saw the joy in life. She lived her life to the fullest, enjoying family and friends, picnics, and especially enjoyed her job. 

She was preceded in death by Father, Paul Emerson Primmer; Mother, Grace Primmer; Two Brothers, Paul Primmer, Jr., Don Primmer; Sister, Arlene Primmer; Son-In-law, Robert C Vernon. She is survived by her Husband of 72 years, William Gookin, Son, Sam (Jeri) Gookin, Daughter, Connie J Vernon; Four grandchildren, Kristi Gookin, Betsy (Alexander) Rogers, Kelly J Vernon, Nicholas C Vernon; four great grandchildren, Santos Leal, Lliam Rogers, Lincon Rogers, Kennedy J Offenberger. 

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Neal officiating. Alice will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice.
