Alice E. Kimbell

April 7, 1938 — August 10, 2023

Alice Elizabeth Kimbell departed from our world leaving it a better place on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

A dedicated educator, an outstanding teacher for 38 years in Columbus City Schools and a caring wonderful loyal friend to many, Alice inspired all who were touched by her love of learning, her zest for life and her deep fondness and devotion to all animals.

Alice began her life on April 17, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio with the loss of her beautiful Mother. She was named after her Mother, Alice. Her devout Grandmother wrapped her in her arms and took her home to join her brother, Jered and Father, William Kimbell. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State University in 1959 and began her rewarding teaching career, becoming a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio.

Alice's home was her place of joy, strength, and happiness, always reflecting her love of decorating for every season and holiday. It was her place of comfort and peace and a caring refuge for her many rescue dogs and cats that found their way to their safe and everlasting home. Alice was comfortable climbing a ladder to repair a gutter or fix her roof usually with her kitty Mary, following her up the ladder! There was no job too big for her to tackle.

Alice was a fashion icon! From the top of her sassy hairstyle to her chic accessories and her winning outfits she was a style genius! She was a believer of thank you notes and a master of letter writing. Many of her former students have stayed in touch with her over the years sharing their happy days of learning in her classroom.

It is said, "Some come into your life, stay awhile, and depart. Alice came to stay in your life and heart, never to be forgotten". Her caring friendship was a treasure. Throughout her very long illness she never complained, was always interested in others, remembered all the names of our pets and continued to laugh until her bed shook! Her sense of humor could only be compared to Carol Burnett! Her one wish she often shared as her days grew short was, "I want to dance!" All who loved her can hear "her heels clicking" as she now dances like never before, her contagious laughter and the pure joy she is now experiencing!

Alice leaves many faithful, loving, and caring friends on this earth, as she joins her Parents, Grandparents, Brother and her many beloved pets. She is survived by her cousins David, Donald and James Miehls and their families, and her friend for over 30 years, Bill Kopper, with their special travels and happy times together.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 12:00-2:00pm Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus. Ohio 43231. A Christian memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm. Bring a funny story, a special time, a wonderful Alice memory in your pocket to share!

In honor of Alice's life, please choose to make a donation in her name to a favorite animal charity, Cat Welfare and/or The ALS Association.

In her memory, take a moment each day to share a smile with others, read to a child, to love a special kitty or dog, to laugh and to always dance like no one is watching.
