Alice Mae Stevenson

December 25, 1941 — December 17, 2021

When any pure soul departs from this world, the heavens rain. It is a sign that the blessed soul reached the kingdom of Heaven safely and is happy. ~ Unknown

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Alice Mae Stevenson, transitioned as the rain fell on December 17th, 2021 at the age of 79.

Alice was born on December 25th, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to Alberta and Ernest Jenkins. Alice was born and raised in Pittsburgh before migrating to South Carolina. She spent her final years in Gahanna, OH where she loved and looked after her dogs Rosco and Luna.

Anyone that knew Alice would describe her as a phenomenal woman. To say she was a hard worker is an understatement. She dedicated almost three decades of service to CitiParks in Pittsburgh, PA before moving on to work at Presbytarian College and Converse College in South Carolina. In her youth, she had an adventurous spirit. She was part of a social club that traveled in and out of the country. She especially enjoyed traveling to Maryland for their annual Crab Festivals, Alice was infamous for her cooking. If you had the honor of attending any event she went to, you most likely had the pleasure of enjoying a slice of her famous sweet potato pie.

Alice's greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She bore four children: Hubert & Ernest Mills, Stephanie Stevenon, and William Stevenson III in addition to raising her grandchildren Latrice, Lawnna, and Stephen Stevenson. She often sacrificed her needs or wants so that she could show others the best version of themselves. She was unpredictably funny, a creative and talented cook, and food was her love language.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Alberta and Ernest Jenkins, her grandsons Kristopher Mills, Ernest Mills Jr, and Stephen Stevenson, her sister Ethel Wynne, as well as her nephew Lamont Wynne. She is survived by her children: Hubert and Ernest Mills, Stephanie Stevenson, and William Stevenson III (Waldean Porter-Stevenson); her niece Lori Wynne; her grandchildren: Ashley, Stasi, & Da'lynn Mills, Latrice, Lawnna, & Alice Stevenson; her great-grandchildren: Kristopher Mills, Izaiah Jones, and London & Maverick Thrower.
