Amelia Ann Hairston Bellamy was born in Henry County on December 18, 1934, to the late Clifford Hairston and Annie Edna Still Hairston of Martinsville, Virginia. It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Amelia, she departed on
March 14, 2023, at the age of 88 after an extended illness, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jeff Bellamy, son, Mack David Staples, Jr, sisters Eloise Hairston and Brucine Day-Griggs, brothers, Clifford Hairston, Jr, Cephus Curtis Hairston, James Luis Hairston, Edward Felix Hairston, Victor Morris Hairston, William Still, Harry Clay Hairston, Charles Kenneth Hairston, Henry Lee Hairston, David Paul Hairston, Wayne Douglas Hairston, son-in-law Edgar L Fairley, nephew William Hairston, Jr., granddaughter Esther Fairley, and great grandson Jennoro Juan Elmore, Jr, and great-great grandson DeMajh Thompson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Carolyn McGee (Cliff McGee), and Shirley Fairley, sisters Joanne Hairston and Bonita Hairston, niece Sharon Hairston, and grandchildren Shereika (Tracy) Peaks, Danilla (Jennoro) Elmore, Eletha McGee, Jazmen Mguirre, and Carl (Tiffany) McGee, Tracy (Larry) Hurt, Jason Fairley, and Eric Fairley, great grandchildren Juanishea (Keith Sr.) Robertson, Dashjuania Elmore, Danesha Elmore,
Lamar Green Jr., Tyreece Peaks, Ivan Washington, Selena Green, Olivia Peaks, Aubree Robinson Fairley, and Ana McGee, Angie Hurt, Amanda Hurt, MiZion Fairley, and Precious Fairley, and Great Grandchild Mahkei Moxley, Keith Robertson, Jr, Max'Juan Thompson, family Maxine Meyers, Raymond Staples, Janice Kellam, Elijah Staples, and an abundance of other relatives and special friends that she loved dearly.
Amelia dedicated 25 years of service and retired from the Iona University in New Rochelle, NY. She was a strong woman of faith. Amelia's pride was in her daughters and grandchildren. She loved her family. She shared many words of wisdom that we will forever remember. In particular, the advice on love of Family, putting God first, and honoring your parents and marriage. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Amelia. She loved her quiet time, cooking from scratch, singing, her fur babies, family reunions and special outings with her family. Her personality and laughter were contagious.
Amelia's love of life didn't come to an end with her death. Her legacy of love will continue through her family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
There will be a service held for Amelia on Sunday, March 26, 2023. The viewing will be held from 2:30 PM until the funeral service begins at 3:30 PM, at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. Please join us as we pay our respects to a phenomenal woman.
