Angela (Angel) M. McMillin passed into the Lord’s embrace peacefully on April 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Her kind, loving and caring soul affected all of the many lives that she touched as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, cousin and friend.
Angel was born in Columbus, OH on December 9, 1942, to Melvin George and Mary Rita Brothers (Murnane). Randall (Mac) Donn McMillin (her husband of forty years) and Angel were married on July 8, 1983 by George Konkus.
She worked briefly in her younger years but after the birth of her children, she provided day care in her home. She cherished the years that she was able to babysit her grandchildren and even one of her great grandchildren.
She was a passionate volunteer at her children’s schools. She volunteered at Bishop Ready High School by working the bingo fundraiser while Lori attended and in the cafeteria at St. Agnes while Troy attended elementary school.
She enjoyed sewing and baking. She passed her love of sewing onto one of her granddaughters. One of her favorite and most loved desserts to bake was her infamous Texas Sheet Cake. Whether it was the original chocolate icing or the highly regarded peanut butter icing, family members always looked forward to family gatherings where Texas Sheet Cake would be present.
Many memories were made during family vacations. Mac and Angel traveled often to Arizona to visit friends. They were able to travel to many different areas of the state. They enjoyed a Hawaiian Island cruise for their twenty-fifth anniversary. Other vacation memories from Sedona, AZ, Washington, DC, Orlando, FL, Gettysburg, Philadelphia and Valley Forge, PA, Hilton Head Island, SC, Gatlinburg, TN and Williamsburg, VA helped create many enjoyable memories.
She treasured family holidays, especially Christmas where she enjoyed decorating the house with many decorations and stuffed Christmas animals and dolls. The family had a Christmas stocking tradition started by her mother. Angel helped continue the tradition by sewing the family stockings whenever new members joined the family. The stockings were suited to each individual, made by hand with special fabric that Angel chose and each name hand stitched with love on the stocking.
Halloween was another favorite holiday. She enjoyed making costumes and showing up at school to pick up her daughter, dressed in a Halloween costume.
She also enjoyed attending activities that her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews participated in such as dance recitals, school plays and musicals, sporting events, holiday events and many others.
Angel made lifelong friends while attending St. Aloysius elementary school. In later years, they met for many, many luncheons. They met so many times that they nicknamed themselves "The Steel Magnolias".
She played cards in two different card clubs for many years. The first was a gathering of her sisters and many other friends that were made over the years. Lots of memories were made with this group of fun-loving ladies. A second card club was a couples’ card club that included many dinners and desserts that are still talked about.
Angel was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rebecca Lynn McMillin and granddaughter Carlie Elise Miller.
Angel is survived by her loving husband Randall (Mac), daughter Lori (Scott) Lindsey and son Troy (Shannon) Miller, grandchildren Julie (Christian) Cayea, Heather Timlin, Erica (Kevin Ivan) Lindsey, Kyle (Linda) Lindsey, Jennifer (Tony) Brunner, Dillon, Claire and Chloe Miller, great grandchildren Audrey, Thatcher and Ophelia Cayea, Mackenzie Timlin, Bjorn Lindsey and Adrianna Lindsey and Abilgail Brunner. She cherished her surviving sisters Melody (Thomas) Christ and Ali (Mike) Konkus as well as her nieces and nephews Karen (Dennis) Shope, Kelly (Dale) Wagner, Kevin (Tanya) Christ, Shannon (Everett) Bishop, Sara (James) Rucker, Joseph Konkus and Mary Konkus.
