Ann Borchart, 97, passed away January 16, 2010 at Mount Carmel West Hospital following a stroke. She was born April 19, 1912 in McKeesport, PA to the late John and Susan Kowach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (1967) whom she married in 1935; brother, George Kowach; sisters, Mary Kocab and Sue Willman. Ann lived most of her life and raised her family in Chauncey, OH. She retired from her job as an activity therapist at Athens State Hospital in 1974. Ann enjoyed a long and happy retirement, much of which she spent volunteering and transporting friends to various senior and church activities. She was a long time and active member of the Athens First Presbyterian Church. Since March, 2009 Ann had resided at Scioto Community Assisted Living in Columbus and in her last years she was an avid reader. She is survived by son, Alan (Kathy) Borchart of Orient, OH; daughter, Penny (Kent) Scott; grandson, Ian Steinback of Madison, OH; sister, Elizabeth Cook of Lowell, ME; brother, Mike (Margie) Kowach of Broadview Hts., OH. In keeping with Ann's wishes there will be no services and her body will be cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City.
