Ansel C. Skaggs, a veteran of Vietnam War and longtime resident of Grove City, left this world March 14, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born January 21, 1948 to Ansel and Victoria (Kelly) Skaggs and graduated from Pleasant View High School. Ansel pursued a career in autobody collision repair before being drafted by the U.S. Army. As an Army Corporal, Ansel was stationed in Germany, responsible for radio communications. His mission was completed in 1970 when he received an honorable discharge. The U.S. Army recognized Ansel with an Expert M-14 badge, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
Upon his return, Ansel married the love of his life - Becky and continued his journey of being a hero - to his family. He mastered his collision repair profession over the years, became a mentor, and helped others learn the art of restoration. He took great pride in his work and creating a 'better than new' result. Ansel was naturally talented with his hands, a real DIY type.
Together more than apart, Ansel and Becky were inseparable and delighted in the little things. They raised three kids together, they loved fishing, camping/traveling, gardening, bowling, games with family and friends. They were the epitome of soul mates, married 50 years. Ansel will be remembered as the most selfless, loving father who was always available for his kids. Lead by his faith, he displayed so many Christian values. As a friend to many, he will go down in history as the most patient and easy-going guy. And he loved babies! His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. His mission was completed once again, with honors.
Ansel was preceded in death and reunited with his wife, Becky, his son Andy, and his parents, siblings, and grandchild. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Charlotte (Steve) Wilson, Nikki (Brian) Bainbridge, grandchildren BJ, Jodie, Chelsea, Mikinzi, Bryson, and Quin, as well as 12 great grandbabies and 4 great great grandbabies.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer Southwest Chapel 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 on Saturday, April 13th at 10am with a memorial service to honor Ansel's life following at 11am.
