Anthony S. "Tony" D'Angelo, 81, Westerville, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at home. Tony was born to Dominic and Dominica (Di Nardo) D'Angelo in Columbus on January 16, 1929, and is preceded in death by his parents; step-grandson, Jason Slagle; brothers, Angelo DeSantis and Arthur DeSantis; sister, Sylvia Massenelli. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lena; daughters, Janice (Archie) Snyder and Brenda (Dean) Slagle; granddaughter, Raelena (David) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Devan, Chayna, Kayelyn, Olivia and Ava Rose Robinson; brother, Samuel DeAngelo; step-granddaughters, Jessica Slagle, Christy Robinson, Lynnette (Chase) McMillen; step great-grandchildren; Drew and Jordan Marie Robinson, Paige Etzler, Maci and Graci McMillen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Tony served in the US Navy, President of Westerville Civitan 3 times and Lt. Gov. of the Ohio District Civitan Area 4 for 2 years. He is a member of the AMVets Post #89, Moose Lodge #1427, past member of the Alpha Club and is a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, of Westerville. Tony worked for the Scioto Country Club, Marble Cliff Quarries and AGG-ROK. Tony loved to golf and had 3 holes in one, enjoyed OSU Football and the Cincinnati Bengals. The D'Angelo family will receive friends Thursday, June 10, 2010, 12- 3 PM & 5-8 PM (Rosary 7:30 PM) at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH. Additional visitation Friday, June 11, 2010 from 8-10 AM at Newcomer, then proceed to Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, with Celebrant Father David E. Gwinner. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Drs. And Nurses at OSU Morehouse (floors 1-3-11), HomeReach nurses and staff (Worthington) and HomeReach Hospice at Riverside for all their kindness and help. Contributions may be made to the Ohio Special Olympics, 3303 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232.
