Barbara Yvonne Hopp

Barbara Yvonne (Martin) Hopp, age 94, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born to Lawrence and Florence Martin of Marietta, Ohio, on August 4, 1928.
Barbara is preceded in death by her siblings, Lawrence Jr. and Virginia Jett, and her husband, D. Bruce Hopp.
She is survived by her four children, Stephen (Debbie), David (Holly Ann), Robert (Nancy), and Linda (Bill) Guth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David (Heather) Hopp, Jr., Deidre (Bill) Smith and Hannah Hopp, and great grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Smith, along with several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Marietta Senior High School, Barbara married her husband, D. Bruce Hopp. Upon his death in 1960, she ran the Hopp Feed Store in downtown Marietta until it closed in 1978. At that time she moved to Columbus, Ohio, to spend the rest of her years working various jobs and then retiring.
Barbara was a strong and hardworking woman raising four children on her own. She loved her children unconditionally and always supported them in their ventures. She loved the outdoors, working in the yard and gardening. She was great with animals and indulged her children in all the precarious animals they brought home to care for. She loved cooking, baking, jigsaw puzzles, word search books and reading. Later in life she also enjoyed adult coloring and bingo. Barbara was a happy person and always looked on the positive side of life. She was a joy to be around. She was loved by all who knew her, and we will greatly miss her.
