Barbara A. Howell

Barbara A. Howell, a devoted homemaker, passed away peacefully on October 4 2024, at the age of 89. Born on March 18, 1935, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Elza and Marie Swisshelm. Barbara graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1953 before continuing her education at The Ohio State University. She met her husband Carroll T. Howell early in grade school and were sweethearts throughout high school. 

As a homemaker, Barbara poured her heart into creating a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones. She was a source of support and inspiration, exemplifying strength and kindness. Barbara's legacy lives on through her beloved children, Steven (Teresa) Howell and Sarah (Phil) Osteen, as well as her treasured granddaughter, Brittany "Taylor" Howell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol T. Howell, as well as her parents, Elza and Marie Swisshelm. Their memories will forever be cherished by the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

In honoring Barbara A. Howell’s life, we remember a remarkable woman who dedicated herself to her family and community. Her spirit will continue to shine through those who carry her memory forward.
