Barry Edward Woods Jr., 61, of Westerville OH, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday August 29, 2023.
He was born July 6, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio to Barry Edward Sr. and Verna Marie (Fields) Woods.
Barry was a devoted husband and father, and was an avid reader and collector of music, movies and books. He loved anything having to do with American History, Christian History, westerns and trivia. As a member of Jersey Church, he especially loved the Southern Gospel singing groups. He was a 1980 graduate of Whitehall Yearling High School and attended Capital University and Ohio State University. He graduated from Hondros College of Nursing and Mt. Carmel School of Nursing. He worked as a nurse at Arbors East Extended Care, Anchor Home Health Care, Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing, and Select Specialty Hospital. His experience found his calling at New Albany Surgical Hospital where he most enjoyed his fellow nurses and bedside care for patients. Barry also was a part-time firefighter/paramedic for Washington Township and Westerville Fire Departments. He was involved with JFLW football leagues and loved The Warriors of Westerville North High School, girls' lacrosse and tennis, boys' lacrosse, track and field, and football. His greatest love was his family; whether it be a sporting event, a music recital, or any type of celebration, being with his family was his greatest passion.
