Barton I. German, age 86, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at home. He was born on September 13, 1922 in Orland, Indiana to the late Paul F. and Willetta R. German. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lucille (Paul) Wyatt, and Lloyd (Paula) German. Barton was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the Signal Core. He retired from Ohio Bell after 30 years of service. He was a member of Registrar Unit of the Aladdin Temple Shrine, the Luther B. Turner Masonic Lodge 732, and the Telephone Pioneers. Barton also coached the Georgian Heights Little League. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys M. (nee Green) German; children, Patricia (Bob) Keel, Gary (Jacki) German, and Bradley (Carolyn) German; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Ivy, and Matthew German, and Michelle Hudnell. Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2009 from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Douglas Nault officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
