Beatrice Simone

January 24, 1938 — April 14, 2023

Beatrice "Bea" Simone, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023. She was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, January 24, 1938, to the late Beatrice and John "Jack" Storrar.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Vincent "Vinnie" Simone. She will be greatly missed by her children, Linda (Scott) Spensiero, Bryan (Kristi) Simone, and Mark Simone; her grandchildren Darren (Susie) Spensiero, Melanie (Matthew) Raithel, Mia (Nick) Naderhoff, Maggie Simone, Danielle Spensiero, Ian Simone, Luke Simone; brother Ian (Barbara) Storrar; and many friends and extended family.
Bea grew up in Scotland and sailed to the US on the Queen Elizabeth when she was 9 years old. She met her future husband in the fourth grade in Mahopac, New York where they continued on through high school together. From there she went to nursing school in Manhattan at Saint Vincent's Hospital where she began her nursing career as a surgical nurse. After marrying Vince, they moved to Columbus, Ohio to raise their family. She continued nursing for 45 years as an RN at Doctor's West Hospital (now Ohio Health).
Her love for her family was tremendous. She was a great role model and mother to her children, as well as her grandchildren who called her"Nanny". She attended countless sporting events for all and was everyone's biggest supporter. She also loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes every fall from B deck for many years. At home she enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader. She was passionate about classical music and the bagpipes. She had an extensive CD collection and season passes to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for many years.
Her faith was inspiring. She was an active member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church (formerly Brookshire) where she sang in the choir, played handbells, and volunteered in various service roles. Most recently, she was a member of The Purple Door Church in Grove City. She enjoyed watching the live service on her iPad and singing along to the hymns.
She led a full and wonderful life, was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
