Benjamin Erwin Dougan, 90, of Worthington, Ohio passed away on January 8, 2022.
He was born on March 8, 1931 to the late Benjamin Edward Dougan and Florence Nell Rice Dougan in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Benjamin attended Bacus Road Elementary and Harborcreek Junior High School and graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1949.
He farmed during high school and worked for Lord Bonded Rubber in Erie, Pennsylvania. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1949 during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge in 1953, he a operated Pure Oil Gas Station in Columbus, Ohio for 10 years. Other positions he held include with J.I. Case, George Byers & Sons, Miami Citizens Bank and as a real estate agent and broker for Hamilton Commerce and Holzer Wollam for over 50 years.
Benjamin is predeceased by his first wife of 50 years, Nita (Hill)Dougan; daughter, Cynthia; brothers, Edward, Richard; sister, Marian; and grandson, Corey.
His Masonic affiliations include New England Lodge #4, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine.
In 2008, he fell deeply in love with and married Barbara J. Irwin-Dougan - a true miracle.
Benjamin is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter, Christine Dougan; step-children, Steve (Dorothea) Irwin, Michael (Gloria) Irwin, Pamela Irwin; two grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery on Friday, January 14, 2022 in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Benjamin's honor.
