Benjamin Bernard Nethers

Benjamin (Ben) Bernard Nethers, 58, of Columbus, passed away June 16, 2021 in a tragic accident. Ben was born July 9 1962 in Mt. Vernon, OH to Norman and Dorothy (Tomko) Nethers. He was a 1980 graduate of West High School, and also received a degree in Data Processing in 1984 from Columbus Business University. Ben worked as a Computer IT Specialist/Operations Manager over the years for Nationwide Insurance, Borden and Chase Bank, as well as consulting work for many other companies in Ohio and across the US. Ben participated in Royal Rangers; loved his cars; took agility courses with his dog Jett; played in the West High Bell Choir; could throw a mean fast ball; loved playing chess and watching movies with family; and volunteered at a local food pantry. Benjamin is survived by his children Caden and Karissa Nethers, his father Norman Nethers, his sisters Sharon (Bruce) Ellsworth and Gail (Edward) Waldeck, and his ex-wife Melissa Mellein. Visitation will be Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 5pm to 8pm at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army ARC, 1675 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43207.
