Benjamin Meade Nielson of Dublin, Ohio, passed from this world on January 21st, 2021, after a courageous battle with COVID complications.
He was born on December 11th, 1957 to Meade and Marba Nielson (nee Lines), who preceded him in death. Ben grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he graduated from Greenway High School. Ben has 3 siblings Ellis (Jackie) Nielson of Memphis, Tennessee; Denice (Steve) Griswold of Phoenix, Arizona; and Mara Viestenz (deceased). Ben leaves behind his wife, Tammy, of 20 years and six children: English Kibbons and Amelia (Travis) Winget of Columbus, Ohio; Sara (Mike) Miller of Riverside, California; Peter (Kay) Nielson of San Diego, California; Alan Nielson and Heidi Nielson of Corona, California. Ben also had eight Grandchildren: Avalynn in Columbus and Helena, Marcus, Lahni, Zoey, Riker, Dax, and Pierce of California; and many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. He will be deeply missed by his colleague and best friend, Charles Ellis of England.
For more than 20 years Ben worked as a projection and sound technician that took him to the UK and back, then all over the United States, installing and maintaining movie theaters. He also serviced private screening rooms all over Los Angeles. Ben's favorite activities were listening to his player piano and Juke boxes, as he had a great passion for music, and watching movies with his wife and daughters in Ohio. He also enjoyed James Bond movies, trips to the Columbus Zoo, and spoiling his beloved Avalynn, who had her Papa wrapped around her finger. Ben will be profoundly missed by his family and friends in Ohio, California, Arizona, and the UK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his memorial fund.
