Bernard Earl "Baney" Bateman, 73, of Groveport, OH, on Fri., Dec. 28, 2012 at OSU Ross Heart Hospital.

Bernie was born June 11, 1939 in Logan, OH to Bernice C. and Earl A. Bateman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister Alice Ann.
Bernie is survived by Carole, his wife of 51 years, son David S. Bateman, Pickerington, and daughter Debra S. Bateman, Powell. Also in-laws Elizabeth and Stanley Moore, Barbara Woodall, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Retired from Signal Delivery Service, Teamsters Local 413. Bernie was semi-retired from the antiques business, he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique furniture, going fishing, reading mystery novels, and loved red roses. He always enjoyed the Tues. morning Signal Delivery drivers' breakfast club at Bob Evans.
In keeping with Bernie's wishes for no formal services, there will be a casual gathering of family and friends during calling hours 6-8 pm Fri., Jan 4 at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with a private burial Sat. in Nelsonville, OH.
Bernie would want you to remember him fondly, call a friend, and hug a loved one.
