Bertha M. Carpenter, 74, passed away Monday, August 28, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 1, 1932, in Arley AL. to Calvin and Cilla (Seay) Carpenter, Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Carpenter; sister, Myrtle Williams; brothers, Carl, Bernie, and Ruel Carpenter; great-grandchild, Tori Carpenter. Survivors include sons, Charles, Jan, Jon (Linda), Ted (Emily); brother, Gathel Carpenter; sisters, Lillie Andrews, Evelyn Allen; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Bertha retired from the Jai Lai Cafe after 29 years of service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, with the service being held on Thursday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery. www.newcomerfamily.com.
