Betty J. Holmes

Betty Jane Holmes (Williams) 91, passed away on May 6 2023, surrounded by loved ones keeping vigil in her family home in Lucy Depp Park.

Betty was born on the Hilltop in Columbus, Ohio to Lucille Williams (Rush) and John Williams. In 1948 she married her first love, Donald Holmes. Their 55-year-long marriage nurtured 5 children into adulthood; G. Michael, John G., Daryle, Terry D., and Peter D. Throughout the years, Betty has been a sometimes not-so-quiet leader for justice, service, healing and generosity. Retired from over 30 years of service at Linworth United Methodist Church, Betty volunteered nearly 20 years at the Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Donald and son Daryle. She is survived by her remaining 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and the sons of Donald's WWII Seabee buddy, William Martin.

The family would like to thank the dedicated professionals who cared for Betty during her final months, including the crews of the Concord Township Fire Department, the care teams at Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio, and the professionals and the volunteers at Sourcepoint of Delaware County.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Linworth United Methodist Church, 7070 Bent Tree Blvd, Columbus Ohio 43235 with a visitation prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
