Betty J. Hoppes, 84, of Friendship Village of Columbus, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Columbus on July 30, 1924, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, George Hoppes; sons, Larry and Daniel Hoppes. Survivors include her daughter, Sue Lancaster; son, George "Butch" (Rita) Hoppes; 2 sisters; 7 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Mount Carmel Hospice, C/O Mount Carmel Foundation, 793 West State Street, Columbus, OH 43222-9988. Inurnment will be at a later date.
