The family matriarch, Betty McFarland Postlethwait Rauch, born Nov 17, 1927, at age 94, passed away on Feb 5, 2022, at Worthington Christian Village where she resided for almost 3 yrs. after a long bout with renal disease among other health issues. She lived on her own until age 90. She was alert until the end.
Being the last of her first family to pass away, she was preceded in death by her parents whom she missed, Walter and Charlotte (Jackson) McFarland, her ex-husband, Ray Postlethwait and Harry Rauch as well as her brother, Newt McFarland and sisters; Karna Neff and Susan Kirkbride.
Living a long and full life, left to treasure her memory are her three sons, Gary (Nancy), David (Debbie) and Ronald Postlethwait. Grandchildren: Angela (Ivan) Valenzuela and Daniel Postlethwait, Jennifer (Brett) Faike, Clinton (Monica), Clayton and Colton Postlethwait; Justin (July) and Rusty Postlethwait and Jerrett (Casey) McLean. Great-Grandchildren: Ava, Ella, Evan Valenzuela, Cade, Jax Faike, Rowan, Soren Postlethwait and Cadance, Charleigh McLean. Sister-in-law, Janet McFarland. Through blended families, she leaves Kerry, Mark, Wyatt & Sloane Stockton, Peter, Leighton & Lilly Scholz and Andrew Scholz. She also leaves her step-children & their families: David (Janet) Rauch, Larry (Brenda) Rauch, Vicki (Ron) Dunlap and Diane (John) Skunza; grandchildren, Troy Aldridge, Brian (Karla) Rauch, Lorie (Raymond) Lamson, Nicole (Brian) Chan, Charles (Deborah) Dunlap and Stephanie Dunlap; 9 step-great grandchildren. Special people in her life included Kristine Hershberger, Leslie Kirkbride, Teresa Metheny, Cheryl Jackson, Anna Baker, the Lordier Family, many McFarland and Postlethwait nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Worthington Christian Village for caring and treating her as family.
Betty was a member of the Franklin United Brethren Church where she was in the choir for many years. She worked for Hoover, Nationwide Insurance and Jesse Howard Electric (retired).
She had many adventures from living in Hollywood, CA, Canton, Columbus, and New Albany, Ohio. She traveled by train, plane and car to visit friends and family.
She welcomed many to her homes, she celebrated holidays and birthdays with all her heart. She never knew a stranger.
Walking, biking and early morning exercises kept her active.
A treasured daughter, sister, wife, aunt, cousin, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, grand and great grandmother, step-mother, friend and neighbor, she never realized her true worth.
She was the best, she lived a wonderful life and she will be missed more than she could ever realize.
Her legacy will be long lived through all the lives she has touched.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14th, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231. Funeral services will be immediately following also at the funeral home. Burial in procession will be held at Maplewood Cemetery - New Albany, OH.
