Betty Schumacher
January 19, 1927 — May 16, 2013
Betty J. Schumacher, age 86 of Grove City, born January 19th 1927 in Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2013 at Parkside Village in Westerville, OH.
She is preceded in death by parents Herbert and Audrey Ruetty and sister Arlene Vanhorn.
A 1944 Graduate of South High School and later retired from State Teachers Retirement System/Public Employees Retirement System in 1991. She was a long time member of Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grove City.
Her retirement activities included: Church fellowship and worship, activities and travel with the Grove City Senior Center, Volunteering at the American Cancer Society Thrift Store, as well as volunteering at local Elementary schools.
She was a loving Mother of two sons Lyle (Jill) and Irving (Julia), daughter Vivian (Lynn) Gardner, Grandchildren Casey Schumacher and Jenna (Warren) Smith. Nephews, Daniel (Jana), James (Donna) and Timothy Vanhorn.
A special thank you to the many caregivers, friends and family who gave their wonderful care and support.
Visitation Monday, May 20, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Tuesday, May 21 at 10 am with visitation a half hour prior at Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2213 White Rd., Grove City, OH. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heartland Hospice 6500 Busch Blvd., Suite 210, Columbus, OH 43229.
