Billy Joe Binns was born on June 7, 1982 in Columbus, Ohio and has passed from this life on January 19, 2021 in Arlington, VA. Billy was the fifth born of nine children and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Brennan Binns and his father Billy Binns. Billy is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Morrison, Martin Brennan, Donald Binns, Melissa Binns, Daniel Binns, Amanda Binns, Joseph Binns, and Mercedes Binns. In addition are the significant others to the siblings, and thirteen beautiful nieces and nephews. The surviving family of Billy Joe Binns has no limitations. Billy's true family was too vast to be acknowledged here. The immediate family wants the extended family to know that we see them, we love you, that we are forever grateful that you are there and we mourn with you.
As a child Billy enjoyed all forms of organized sports, hiking, swimming, camping, and fishing. His natural curiosity led him to question all things in life and beyond, both tangible and intangible. Growing up with eight siblings, Billy honed his skills in competition, compassion, and a devoted sense of loyalty.
Billy graduated from WEST HIGH SCHOOL in 2000. While there he participated in soccer, baseball, basketball, and went to the State Finals in Wrestling. He played trombone in the concert band and practiced guitar and piano at home. After graduation, Billy's chosen primary source of transportation was roller blading and bicycle riding. When not working in the family business he was often found playing hockey or basketball. Seeking a greater challenge, Billy entered in the US Marine Corps in 2002. During his 5 years of active service he was deployed to Iraq, he served aboard the USS Enterprise, he earned numerous decorations and received a high degree of training on fixed wing aircraft. Upon discharge from active duty he continued his education and earned his Air Frame License after graduation from Columbus State Community College. After graduation Billy accepted employment with Dyncorp, a leading military contractor. It was here that he sharpened his knowledge and skills in maintaining fighter jets. He progressed to working directly for the US Navy as an integral figure assuring that our nation, that you and I, are safe and protected. He did so with both pride and modesty.
Billy Joe Binns was that guy. His presence electrified the air, his smile was a beacon for all and his laugh embrace both the silly and the ridiculous. His pursuit of excellence was matched by his calm of resolve. Majestic was the word used by a mere passerby. His passions and accomplishments too numerous to sum and his sorrows too heavy to bear, Billy Joe is lain to rest and the world is at a loss.
