Bruce C. Johnson

Bruce "Jim" Johnson, 96, of Columbus, went home to be with his Lord and Savior October 2, 2021. Jim was born September 14, 1925 in Zaleski, OH to Raymond and Hazel (Anson) Johnson. He proudly served in the United States Navy on D-Day at Normandy Beach. Jim was a board member for 33 years, treasurer for 26 years and on the building and grounds committee and Sunday School Teacher for many years, and a van driver for the senior citizens for his church Beechwold Church of the Nazarene and later known as Cook Rd. Church of the Nazarene. He owned and operated Bruce C. Johnson Contractors for over 40 years. Jim will be deeply missed by his wife Rosemary of 11 years; children Bruce C. (Beverly A.) Johnson Jr., Barbara J. (David R.) Brown; grandchildren Bruce C. Johnson III, Clayton D. Johnson, Jonathan Brown, Benjamin Brown, Hilary (John) Welsh; great-grandchildren Kayli Johnson, Trenton Welsh, Joanna Welsh, Owen Welsh along with many other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene L. Shuster Johnson, daughter Gloria Anne Johnson. Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Jim Blakenship of Mt. Sterling officiating, where military rites will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Community Wesleyan Church.
