Candace Louise (Burkett) Spiess, age 75, of Columbus, OH was welcomed into Heaven on January 6, 2022 with her family at her side.
She was born on August 15, 1946 to Calvin R. (deceased) and Cecil R Burkett of Colton, OH.
She was a 1964 graduate of Liberty Center High School and continued on to complete training as a computer programmer, later earning the distinction of having been the first woman hired as a computer programmer for Bowling State University.
Candace was happily married to Larry L. Spiess of Liberty Center, OH for 55 years.
She is survived by husband Larry; daughter, Tamera R. Wolfe of Westerville, OH; son, Shane J. (Jennifer) Spiess of Granville, OH, as well as five grandchildren; Aleah, Sarah, Grant, Laura, Ian and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters and one sister-in-law; Doris (Milton) Reighard of Colton, OH; Joyce (Carl) Hussell of Neapolis, OH and Joan Rivera of Phoenix, AZ.
Candace was a member of the Westerville Community United Church of Christ and a former member of the Colton United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was joining her husband in building loving relationships with their grandchildren.
It was Candace's wish not to have a public viewing; the family will arrange for a private Memorial/"Celebration of Life" service in the Spring at the Colton UMC in Colton, OH.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, Inc. or to a charity of the donor's choice.
