Carl W. Kinman

Carl W. Kinman, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2021. He was born on December 26, 1930 to the late Marie and Carl E. Kinman in Omaha, Nebraska.

Carl was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, having served as Congregation President. He volunteered at LSS Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Homebound Communion Ministry, Bed Brigade and many other lay ministries. Carl served on the Board for Lutheran Senior City. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He graduated from West High School in 1949 and attended The Ohio State University. He was in sales for Graybar Electric, General Foods, and F.W. Sloter Concrete, where he retired after 30 years. Carl was a life-long Buckeyes fan. He was an avid woodworker/ toy-maker and made beautiful stained-glass windows. Above all, Carl was a true family man. He was a dedicated spectator at his children's and grandchildren's countless events. The biggest blessings in his life were his Faith and the family that he and Nancy created.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his bride of almost 69 years, Nancy (South); children, Cindy (David) Dye, Gary (Cynthia) Kinman, Julie (Morgan) von Lohr IV, Nannette (Rob) Shea; grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Hostetler, Nicholas (Rachel) Dye, Nancy (Jody) Shockley, Betsy (Bobby) Wycoff, Zachary (Lindsey) Kinman, Jessica (Rick) Nash, Morgan (Erica) von Lohr V, Andrew (Jennifer) von Lohr, Amanda (Kyler) Denbow, Taylor (Allison) von Lohr, Daniel (Stephanie) Potokar, Katy Potokar, Anna (Katie) Ohle, Rebecca Potokar; step-grandchildren, Jamie Basiewicz, Christine Richardson, William (Kelsey) Richardson III; 34 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole and John Herold; life-long friend, Jack Kelly; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Carl was also preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Strickler; life-long friends, Ray Bostic and Robin Schmidt.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer-SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio 43123. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus Street, Grove City followed by procession to Sunset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carmel Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research.
