Carol Jean Lightner

Carol Lightner-Ackerman, born, February 11th, 1958, passed, April 1st, 2025.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Lightner Ackerman on April 1st, 2025. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her devoted husband, Alan Ackerman; son, Steve McClain and daughter-in-law, Melissa McClain “ daughter, Katie Gunn; and grandchildren, McKenzie McClain, Allie Gunn, Lincoln Gunn, and Logan Gunn.

Carol is also survived by her sisters, Pam Smith-Wemlinger and Cynthia Haston-Parker, who were not only family but also lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Betty Smith-Sauls, and father, Dave Lightner.

Carol had a deep passion for working with horses and animals, a love that shaped much of her life. She found joy in the simplicity and beauty of the outdoors, particularly through camping and exploring nature. Carol’s kindness and unwavering devotion to her family and animals left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date and location TBD and will be communicated.
