Her brothers and sister in law Walter Stewart Sr., Herbert Henderson, and Patricia Hairston. And by her many nieces and nephews, their children, their grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
The daughter of the late Eugene and Maude Hairston, Carolyn was the eleventh of thirteen children.
She grew up in the "Fly Town" area of Columbus, Ohio, an area in which she admired and took comfort in.
She and her siblings spent days at the Godman Recreation Center playing multiple sports with their mother.
Although Carolyn's other siblings developed a liking to things such as swimming or humor, one thing Carolyn was known for was her incredible taste in fashion. She'd always get so many compliments from her unique taste and style.
As we remember Carolyn, we remember her as a woman with many stories and many interests; from garage sales on the weekends to babysitting. Babysitting was one of her biggest passions.
Despite her losing her eyesight over the years, she didn't let that handicap stop her from cleaning the house and running a large household. Carolyn was a hardworking lady, always cleaning everyday up until her death.
One thing that always brought her joy was when her grandchildren would refer to her as Judge Judy. Although Carolyn could be a bit acrimonious at times, she was a woman of startling charisma and tranquility.
She was a very kind and loving soul who always had an encouraging word for you, whatever you were going through.
She had a beautiful spirit and I will always remember the wonderful times shared alongside her. She was truly an interesting and awesome person to have met and known.
All the great memories and time are yours to keep until eternity starts.
We are so grateful for the many precious memories you left for us to remember forever.
Praise God for the beautiful legacy you left for us to cherish, your smile, and good talks we had.
