Carolyn Louise Seghi passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on December 6, 2022. Carol is survived by her children Christine Seghi and Jeff Seghi (Anne), her grandsons Mitch Lurtz and Tyson Seghi, sister-in-law Bonnie Balla, and nieces and nephews Ron Zielinski (Sherri), Deanna Wojnar (Bob), Dan Balla (Laurie), Nicole Walkowiak (Craig), nephews Ryan and Mitchell Walkowiak and Andrew Sobucki (Cara), and "adopted" daughter Amy Willy (husband Bryon and sons Adam and Grant). Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Seghi, who passed away September 19, 2022.
Carol was born October 23, 1948 to Helen and Stanley Zielinski in Chicago, Illinois. She married Peter Seghi August 31, 1968 and Christine and Jeff came along in 1972 and 1976. The family spent the majority of their lives in Northwest Indiana until Pete's retirement, at which point he and Carolyn relocated to San Antonio, Texas.
Carol was a great wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and prided herself on her role of bringing up her children and supporting her loving husband. Carol was a devout Catholic, loved word puzzles, trivia, tennis, gardening, traveling, floral arrangement, and spending time with her family. She was secretly a wanna-be British citizen, devouring every British mystery series she could find, never missing a single minute of every Wimbledon, and reading everything she could about world history. She was perhaps most famous for her salmonella pie, which held a sacred spot in the hearts of every family member each Thanksgiving and Christmas, and was possibly the most talked about pie in the history of pies.
Carol and Pete were a true love story, and although Carol bravely carried out their plans of moving to Ohio after Pete's passing, she fought a tough battle with health issues and deeply missed her husband. She has found her happiness again by reuniting with her beloved Pete. Carol will be missed but her family takes comfort in knowing she and Pete are together again and watching with pride from above. Rest in peace, Carol.
