Carolyn Jean Smith

Carolyn Jean Smith, age 98, passed away on July 31, 2022. She was born on April 5, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Homer Ralph Gilbert and Gertrude Anna (Kochenderfer) Gilbert. She is preceded in death by, husband of 60 years, Richard Ivan Smith; daughter, Lynn Carol Taylor; brother, Richard Gilbert; sister, Phyllis Young. She is survived by her children, Karen Ann Smith, Susan Elizabeth Rickabaugh, and Ralph Elliot (Kathy) Smith; grandchildren, Melissa Ann Richardson, Bryan James McGinnis, Matthew Edward Smith; great grandchildren, Jessica Lynn McGinnis, Brandon Lee Blackmore; great great grandchild, Azazel M.J. Blackmore; sister, Judith Hadley. She was a longtime member and secretary of West Park United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Buckeye State Harmonica Club. One of her greatest achievements was raising four children, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Friends may call at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
